Stainless Steel Services celebrates its 21st Anniversary this year.  Since starting the business in 1987 as a private, owner – managed company it has significantly expanded stocking and processing facilities to become one of the UK’s leading independent distributors.  
To enable the company to move further forward and secure its long term future, in November 2007 Stainless Steel Services became part of the Irestal Group.   
Stainless Steel Services Ltd is now moving forward under the new ownership and it has become clear that the benefits of increased product range, volumes, purchasing power, backing and facilities of a major international service centre will enable the company to offer an even better service than before.
The Irestal Group is Catalan owned with more than 60 years experience in the stainless steel market and was the first company to introduce stainless steel into Spain.  Its headquarters and main service centre is based in Barcelona with slitting lines, cut-to-length lines, polishing, shearing and sawing facilities.  The group has 27 branches or group companies in 9 different countries within Europe as well as a welded tube plant in Galicia, North Western Spain.  This welded tube mill facility at Rabade has 24  production lines to supply (currently) up to 168 mm o/d x 3.0 mm tube with extensive stocks held both at Rabade and in Barcelona.
Stainless Steel Services Ltd now looks forward to the future within the group and intends to rapidly expand its UK customer base by offering the same fast flexible service but with a much wider stock range and enhanced facilities at its Birmingham location backed up by the service centre in Barcelona.  Deliveries from the service centre, which includes de-coiling and cut to length facilities up to 10.0 mm thickness x 2 metres width for large sheets and plates, are offered on a weekly basis.
