Outokumpu scrap purchase

Outokumpu has signed an agreement to acquire the operations of Avesta Klippcenter AB in Avesta, Sweden, from its owners, the Lind family. The transfer of ownership is scheduled to take place on July 1, 2008.
 
Avesta Klippcenter's main business, among others, is to process stainless steel material from Outokumpu's mills in Sweden for remelting in Avesta's melt shop.
 
Through the acquisition Outokumpu's rawmaterial handling capacity will increase, and it will secure competitive supply for the Avesta stainless steel melt shop. After the acquisition Avesta Klippcenter can be developed in line with the increasing production capacities in Avesta and other sites in Sweden.
