Lakshmi Mittal, Chairman and CEO at ArcelorMittal received the World Steel Association (worldsteel) Medal at the worldsteel annual dinner in Tokyo. The medal was presented by Paolo Rocca, Chairman worldsteel and Chairman and CEO Techint Group.
The worldsteel Medal is awarded to retiring Chairmen as they step down from being an officer of the Executive Committee (Chairman, Vice-Chairman or Treasurer). It is an honour in recognition of distinguished service to the steel industry and worldsteel. After four years as an officer of the Executive Committee, Lakshmi Mittal is now stepping down, though he remains a member of the committee.
Lakshmi Mittal was also honoured as Industry Communicator of the Year on October 6, chosen from a distinguished group of final nominations comprised of Hajime Bada, Ian Christmas, Daniel DiMicco, Lakshmi Mittal, Shan Shanghua, John Surma.
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) is one of the largest and most dynamic industry associations in the world. worldsteel represents approximately 180 steel producers (including 19 of the world's 20 largest steel companies), national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. worldsteel members produce around 85% of the world's steel.
