BSSA Fabrication workshop 13 June

publication date: May 17, 2011
The BSSA and TWI are jointly hosting a Fabrication Workshop at the TWI Conference Centre, Granta Park, near Cambridge. The event is an opportunity to meet and discuss application limits and welding of stainless steels.
Austenitic stainless steels currently hold about 65% of the global stainless steel market due to their good corrosion resistance, excellent formability and ease of welding. Austenitic stainless steels also benefit from the many years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication and application which translate into a solid engineering knowledge and high integrity components. However, with the instability of nickel prices, opportunities exist for reducing costs through use of ferritics, lean duplexes and low Ni austenitics.
This event will therefore focus on the selection and fabrication of stainless steels, covering both traditional and emerging grades.
Workshop Objectives:

- To promote good design and fabrication in stainless steel

- To illustrate good practice with examples of applications

- To provide an introduction to development and technical support services

Benefits of attending:

- Confidence in specifying, buying and fabricating stainless steel, and in using and operating stainless steel structures and equipment

- An understanding of how to avoid the pitfalls in stainless steel design and fabrication

- Access to regional technical and business support

Who should attend:

This workshop will be of value to those involved in stainless steel fabrication, especially engineers, managers and supervisors responsible for owning, designing and manufacturing stainless steel products and structures.
Fees
The attendance fee for members of the BSSA, TWI or WJS is £15 + VAT (£18.00) The non-member fee is £35.00 + VAT (£42.00). Students can enrol free of charge but places are limited. The fee includes refreshments, lunch and access to the presentations made at the workshop.

The workshop will be open for registration at 09.45 and the programme concludes at 15.15. There will be an opportunity to visit TWI's facilities at the end of the workshop.
